I recently formatted my IdeaPad N580 laptop, it came with Windows 8 installed and i downgraded to Windows 7, the Optiarc DVD RW device stopped working, more specifically it 'works' but the drivers are messed up (my assumption), it flashes the light, opens/close the tray and even makes noise as if it were trying to read the CD/DVD but all/any CD/DVD i tried with does not execute nor even appears as if there were nothing, the device itself does not appear in the system, no icons. The drivers (Windows 7 Default drivers) do not work and the manufacturer does not provide a driver download for that model in their site. Any kind of help will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Troubleshooter says that there's a problem with the driver for Optiarc DVD +- RW AD-7700H. The troubleshooter tries to reinstall the driver to fix the problem, but then comes back saying that it was unable to fix the problem.
Windows updater doesn't show any other updates for my machine. I'm at a loss for how to fix this problem. My pc it's a All in one sony vaio vpc-j series. And no, I have not made any changes to my my computer befor the issue appears, yes the driver gets detected in deviece manager, but it cannot be reinstalled from troubleshut solution. And it cannot be updated since the drivers are allready 'updated' So please, I really need you guys to help me on this one.
